One of the earliest "candlesticks" used by peasants in the Middle Ages was a combination of a stand and a clip to hold a rush dipped in tallow, a Rush-Light. Rush is "siv" in Danish. The burning rush gave light in the dark for the different doings. The Siv stand is given the name "Siv" because of the history and the fact that the stand is slim as a rush!

The candle holders height is variable.
